This unspoilt county, in the middle of the UK, has expansive mountains, ancient sites and amazing activities that are guaranteed to delight the whole family. Here is our handpicked list of things to do.
1. THROW AN AXE
An ancient Viking tradition and a pastime enjoyed by many a warrior over the centuries, today the sport of axe throwing is open for anyone to enjoy recreationally.
The experience involves the participants throwing a hatchet at a wooden target board. It takes a bit of practice to control your throw and land the axe successfully, but even those who aren’t pro axe-throwers will enjoy the opportunity to let off steam.
We highly recommend the experience, there is no better feeling that getting the axe stuck in the board.

2. LASER A CLAY
An electronic version of the countryside sport of clay pigeon shooting with the shotguns firing lasers instead of live ammunition, making the experience incredible safe.
Laser clay shooting involves firing at clays as they fly across the sky. It’s tricky to begin with but as soon as you get the knack, you will become unstoppable.

3. FIRE PAINTBALLS
Paintballing has been around for many years, with the popularity of the activity increasing year upon year. Shooting one another with paint, what’s not to love.
Offering both paintball (suitable for those aged 11 upwards) and Splatmaster (which is great for the younger ones). With a team of fully trained marshals on hand to deck you out, you’ll be going head to head in no time.

4. WALK A LLAMA
Get close up and personal with a lovable llama. Did you know that they are native to Peru, related to camels and are the oldest domesticated animal in the world. Well you do now.
This incredible Llama trekking experience will involve helping call in, catch, halter, groom and walk your llama through the farm and fields, or beyond through the glorious Herefordshire countryside.
There is certainly something very special about walking a llama. They are such social creatures and are extremely relaxed around humans.

5. HOLD A HAWK
This is a unique opportunity to observe the world’s best-trained falcons and other birds of prey in an authentic setting in the Herefordshire countryside.
All experiences with Wye Valley Falconry are entertaining and informative. 6. MOULD CLAY
Here you can join a pottery class conducted by an experienced teacher, in a small group setting.
Making a pot on the potter’s wheel is on many people’s bucket list. This fun session offers the opportunity to do just that! The perfect experience for individuals, couples and small groups wanting to get creative with clay.

7. PADDLE A CANOE
Hire a canoe, grab a paddle and explore the wonders of the river wye.

8. FORGE A KNIFE
Experience the old tradition of blacksmithing with a unique knife-making course. Discover the fundamentals of the craft and learn the techniques involved.
This is a one-day knife-making course designed for both beginners and those who have prior experience of blacksmithing. An expert team will guide and support you through each process in the design and forging of your own knife.
A fantastic 6 hours of fun, taught in a relaxed and friendly environment, where you will be made to sweat but will leave at the end of the day with a blade you will cherish forever – along with a special story to be told.

9. GO QUAD TREKKING
Quad trekking is an extreme adrenaline-fuelled adventure involving four small wheels, made increasingly intense by touring through woodlands.

10. HIT A GOLF BALL
Relax, unwind and get thoroughly frustrated whilst playing golf. All joking aside there is no better way to de-stress than hitting a golf ball.
The game of golf is always so much fun, even if the ball never goes the right way. Just think about the exercise it’s giving you (that’s if you haven’t splashed out and booked a buggy)

11. BE THE NEXT LEWIS
If you are looking for a little healthy competition, then look no further than go karting. Great fun for all ages and really gives you that adrenaline rush.
Can you outdrive your rivals on a fast and challenging 600 metre race circuit? Have you got what it takes to win the race and stand on top of the podium.
The track is incredible and is one of the best outdoor circuits in the UK.
